The COVID-19 pandemic that plagues the nation and the world currently has shook the foundation of the entire country. In response to this pandemic, India has called out to the people for their collective aid and efforts to help fight the Novel Coronavirus outbreak. In light of this, on 29th of March, 2020, officials from the Supreme Court of India have collectively made a contribution of 1,00,61989 to the PM CARES fund, which has been set up for relief work with respect to the outbreak.

The employees of the Supreme Court Registry took the voluntary decision to donate, filling the circular that was issued on the 29th of March, 2020. The circular to the effect of the decision explicitly stated the voluntary decisions

The terms of the donations were set out as follows:

  1. All Gazetted Officers: 3 days' salary
  2. All Non-Gazetted Employees: 2 days' salary
  3. All Group C Non-Clerical Employees: 1 days' salary

This is a significant step by the legal fraternity to help combat the crisis that has impacted the entire country.
