Strike by Lawyers at Tis Hazari and other district courts

By LawStreet News Network      09 May, 2018 04:00 AM      0 Comments

After the brawl between a group of advocates and outsiders near Karkardooma court complex resulting in strike earlier last month, this time a lady advocate alleging misconduct and misbehavior by other lawyers within the Tis Hazari court complex forwarded her complaint to Prashant Kumar, ASJ (Tiz Hazari Court) who directed the police to register an FIR under Sections 354 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 in this case.

As a result, it has been decided by the Coordination Committee of All-District Court Bar Associations of Delhi to observe one-day complete strike at Tiz Hazari on May 08, 2018 and all District Courts on May 09, 2018 in which no bail, no stay, and no court activities would be entertained. More so, the co-ordination committee further resolves to boycott the court of Mr. Prashant Kumar, ASJ (Central) room No.35, Tis Hazari till the decision of the Hon'ble Chief Justice of High Court comes on the subject.

Whatever might have been the reasons behind such developments, the plain truth is that why issues between the advocates should effect the common litigants right to speedy justice because of frequent strikes. The lawyers who are honored as the officers of the court should not place an impediment in the process of law. "You may ever be so high, but the law is above you."
