Senior Advocate Mahalakshmi Pavani to Launch Landmark Book on Womens Legal Rights in India

New Delhi: Supreme Court Senior Advocate Mahalakshmi Pavani, one of India’s leading voices in constitutional and gender justice, is set to launch her seminal work titled Women Laws – From the Womb to the Tomb: Rights and Remedies. The book offers a detailed legal account of women’s rights in India and the remedies available to them under Indian law, spanning the entire course of a woman’s life.

Authored with scholarly depth and real-world insight, the book addresses critical issues including bride trafficking, female foeticide, abortion, surrogacy, adoption, cross-border child custody, eve teasing, sexual harassment at the workplace, female genital mutilation, property rights of women, and many more such gender-specific legal challenges that women face in contemporary Indian society.

The foreword is penned by Hon’ble Justice M.N. Venkatachaliah, former Chief Justice of India, adding further gravitas to this authoritative volume.

The launch event will take place on April 18, 2025 at 6:00 PM at the India International Center, New Delhi, and will be graced by esteemed members of the judiciary:

  • Justice B.V. Nagarathna, Judge, Supreme Court of India
  • Justice K.V. Vishwanathan, Judge, Supreme Court of India
  • Justice Hima Kohli, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India

The evening will feature a panel discussion on the theme:
“Bridging the Gap: Strengthening Women’s Rights through the Three Pillars of the Indian Constitution”
