After Swiggy, Zomato starts Alcohol Delivery in Jharkhand

On Thursday the food ordering and delivery platform Zomato stated that it has started delivery of alcohol in Jharkhand. A company official declared, We will go live in Ranchi later today and 7 other cities in Jharkhand over the next couple of days.

Zomato further remarked, With due permissions and license in place, we are starting home delivery of alcohol in Jharkhand. We believe that technology-enabled home delivery-based solutions can enable responsible consumption of alcohol as well as provide an option thats safer and promotes social distancing. 

Earlier in the week, Swiggy started home delivery of alcohol in Ranchi and it is said to be in talks with various state governments to provide support with online processing and home delivery of alcohol in their respective states.

A tweet by Swiggy stated that their service had gone live in Ranchi and that they are planning to launch in other major cities. It is also stated that the company is preparing for future stages of discussions with multiple state governments to provide support with online processing and home delivery of alcohol. 

In order to ensure the safe delivery of alcohol and accessories in compliance with the necessary laws, Swiggy has also introduced measures such as mandatory age verification and user authentication to fulfill the said deliveries.
