Wagh Bakri owner passes away days after stray dog attack

Acclaimed businessman Parag Desai, the Executive Director of Gujarat-based Gujarat Tea Processors and Packers Limited, known for its Wagh Bakri brand of tea has passed away at 49 years of age following a brain hemorrhage.

He reportedly suffered a severe head injury after a fall trying to ward off an attack by stray dogs during his morning walk.

He was rushed to the Shelby Hospital after the said attack on October 15, after a security guard outside his house alerted his family members. Following that he was shifted to the Zydus Hospital where he died during treatment on October 22.

He is survived by his wife and daughter.

The son of Rasesh Desai, who is the Managing Director of the group, Parag looked after sales, marketing and exports for Wagh Bakri.

He is said to have been associated with charities like Blind People’s Association (BPA) and the Jeevdaya Charitable Trust (which runs an animal hospital in Ahmedabad) and to have had a keen interest in sustainability projects.
