In a major crackdown on Jawan pirates, the Delhi High Court has ordered the parent companies of WhatsApp, Telegram and other social media platforms to disclose the identities of those involved in the illegal distribution of the Shah Rukh Khan film. The court had also directed the companies to discontinue the groups circulating the pirated version of Jawan.
The move by the Delhi High Court comes after Red Chillies Entertainment filed a petition to suspend all WhatsApp groups and Telegram channels that were found guilty of pirating Jawan.
As a result of the crackdown, the number, WhatsApp groups and social media pages of accused Rohit Sharma have been deactivated.
Red Chillies Entertainment had filed a police complaint against Rohit Sharma and others responsible on September 13.
The police are also expected to take action against the accused.
The leaked images and footage of Jawan surfaced on the internet months before the film had released in cinemas.
