With the arrest of 2 snatchers, Delhi south-east district police claim to have solved 14 cases of snatching.

The notorious snatchers were identified as Kapil Kumar 20 years and Sunny Mavi 20 years. The police from their possession recovered 17 mobile phones and 1 scooty.

Sensing gravity of the crime in the area, a team of Special Task Force (STF) comprising ASI Kirpal, Head Constables Sharwan, Anil Kumar, Mahesh Chauhan and others led by Incharge inspector Mukesh Moga under the supervision of Jagdish Yadav, ACP/Operations was constituted.

The police stepped up vigil and traps at various sensitive points were laid. Acting on a tip-off, the team laid a trap near Okhla round about, Maa Anandmai Marg and 2 persons were seen coming on a scooty from the M.B. Road side. The police team intercepted the scooty and both the riders were asked to produce the ownership documents of the vehicle but they were unable to prove any such documents. On verification, the said vehicle was found stolen from the area of PS Ambedkar Nagar vide e-FIR no. 13199/19, U/S 379 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860. In order to feed their addictions, they started mobile phone robbery, snatching and theft. Accused Kapil was earlier arrested in a case of robbery in 2018," District Police Head Chinmoy Biswal spoke.
