The domestic violence case has been filed by the daughter-in-law of famous builder promoter Raman Patel and his family members. On Thursday (August 27, 2020), the city police got a tip-off that the complainant’s maternal aunt who was the prime witness in a domestic violence case has been given a bribe to become hostile. When the police raided the aunt's house, they found 2.5 crores in a suitcase.
The crime branch official said, “At her house, we found two suitcases filled with currency notes of the denomination of Rs 500 & Rs 2,000 adding up to Rs 2.5 crore. During primary questioning, one of the persons involved said that the cash had been given to Fizu’s mother (the said witness) & she had kept it at her home for safety". The police said the cash has been given to the aunt of the accused to change her statements about the domestic violence case so that the investigation could get distracted and Raman Patel could go charge free in the said case.
Police are still investigating the matter and have said that the cash had been given by one of the four accused but who exactly has given it is a question. Police suspect that the builder would have given the cash and it has informed the IT department to check whether it is in fact black money collected by the builder.
