This whole incident reminds one of the infamous murder case of Jessica Lal, where Manu Sharma shot dead model Jessica Lall after the 34-year-old refused to serve him liquor at the Tamarind Court restaurant owned by socialite Bina Ramani at Qutub Colonnade in south Delhis Mehrauli. When Jessica was rushed to Apollo Hospital, doctors declared her brought dead. Sharma, the son of former Haryana Congress leader Venod Sharma, was handed life imprisonment in the case.
The Dance Bar Regulation Bill, unanimously passed by the Maharashtra state assembly in 2016, banned serving liquor in performance areas and mandated that the premises must shut by 11:30 PM. It also imposed heavy penalties on dance bar owners and customers for not following these rules.
Should this law be applied to the whole country?
