Mumbai Man Arrested For Allegedly Raping Female Stray Dog

By LawStreet News Network      26 August, 2019 11:00 AM      0 Comments

The Navi Mumbai and Panvel police in Maharashtra on August 22, 2019, arrested a man for allegedly raping a female stray dog in Kharagar.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under Section 377 (Unnatural Offences) of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, at the local police station by Animal Activist, Vijay Rangare with the help of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India.

Section 377 states that Whoever voluntarily has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal, shall be punished with imprisonment for life, or with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine.

According to PETA, the alleged perpetrator is thought to be a repeat offender who may have previously sexually abused other animals as well.

PETA strongly believes that if the man is released he might attack a human in the same way.
