Four Arrested from Delhi Restaurant 'Nege & Ju' for Black Marketing of Oxygen Concentrators

In the COVID-19 crisis in Delhi because of the absence of medical supplies, authorities have recovered a huge stock of oxygen concentrators that was being accumulated and sold in a restaurant cum-bar in the city. The incident took place after 'Nege and Ju' Bar and Restaurant was discovered to be open.

Following this incident, police officials started searching the place and found that one person was working on a laptop and accepting online orders for the oxygen concentrators. The police have recovered 32 boxes of oxygen concentrators with a limit of 9 litres and 5 litres In addition, other things were also found such as one box of a thermal scanner and one box containing N-95 masks. Another search was conducted and 387 more concentrators were recuperated. A total of 419 boxes were recuperated.

As per reports, it was also found that the medical supplies were being sold on the 'Xpect Everything' online portal. The oxygen concentrators were being sold for Rs. 70,000. Likewise, MRP stickers were also recovered from the site. 

During the interrogation, four accused who were arrested by the Delhi government disclosed the information of their operation, conducted through a warehouse in Khullar Farm, Mandi Village. Further, police have notified that investigation is in progress and endeavors are being made to recover more supplies and capture other offenders who are involved with black marketing.

Taking note of the whole incident, one of the partners of the restaurant -Ms. Navneet Randhawa informed that, “I don't have anything to do with aside from the regular restaurant activities which have been shut since the last numerous days. In fact, I'm dealing with the Coronavirus crisis being Coronavirus positive since the most recent 20 days”.

In the meantime, the Delhi government has notified that it will give medical oxygen to patients who are going through home isolation. 

The individuals who require oxygen for home isolation have been approached to apply on the government portal - delhi.gov.in - with a valid photo ID, Aadhaar card, COVID positive report, and other information. The patients will be given oxygen dependent on stock and accessibility.

Furthermore, it can also be acquired after a District Magistrate will give a pass to the patient, expressing the date, time, and address of the oxygen seller. Patients can begin applying for oxygen chambers from Thursday.
