Kitty Kumaramangalam, the wife of deceased former Union minister P Rangarajan Kumaramangalam, was discovered dead at her residence in Vasant Vihar in Southwest Delhi on 7th July, Wednesday, police confirmed. They further stated that she was 67 years old. Between 1998 and 2001, P Rangarajan Kumarmanglam was a Union minister in the government of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

According to authorities, the motivation for the death was intended robbery, and a 24-year-old washerman from the neighbourhood named Raju was detained in connection with the crime. According to early investigations, the washerman arrived at the residence about 9 p.m. on 6-7-2021, Tuesday night, and when the house helper opened the door, he overcame her, dragged her to a room, and detained her.

Meanwhile, two more individuals entered the residence and suffocated the victim with a pillow, according to authorities. The maid eventually untied herself and rang an alarm, they claimed, stressing that there were open suitcases at the site, suggesting that the motive was planned robbery.

One individual has been apprehended, and a search is underway for two additional suspects, stated DCP South-West.
