Salem district gets attacked by office Assistant

Magistrate in Tamil Nadus Salem district, got attacked by his own office assistance, inside the Court premises. A Prakash, assistant of M. Ponpandy, Judicial magistrate IV, committed the act inside the magistrates own chamber.  The judge was then rushed to Government Mohan Kumaramanglam Medical College, Hospital.

A Prakash, the assistant, was charged Us. 307 Indian Penal Code (Attempt to Murder) by the Hasthampur police Station. Reports from investigation suggested that Prakash was disturbed due to his recent transfer from Omalur Court. He questioned the magistrate as to what was the reason of his transfer and on being told that the same was directed by the Principal District Judge, he got infuriated and attempted the outrageous attack on the magistrate.

The safety and wellbeing of the legal fraternity has become a much debated issue after the demise of the Additional District & Sessions Judge of Dhanbad, Uttam Anand.

Uttam Anand, initially it was believed, died of an accidental death. However later on, it was discovered that the death was a well-planned one, as the car that ran into him was on purpose.

This incident had led to the registration of a Suo Moto case, concerning the safety of judges.

However, several other mis-happenings followed, including the shootout that happened in Rohini Court in Sptember 2021, followed by a minor blast in December 2021. The former had led to the death of Gangster Jitender Gogi and two others.
