NHAI URGED TO CONNECT NH-8 TO NH-1 TO EASE TRAFFIC AND CURB POLLUTION.

Mrs. Veena Vermani, Chairman Standing Committee of North DMC, heading a delegation met the senior officials of National Highway Authority of India to complete the development of UER-II (Urban Extension Road-II) which is a Master Plan Road of 43 kilometres length connecting National Highway No. 1 to National Highway No.8 via NH No. 10 as soon as possible to reduce the traffic and curb pollution in the city.

This road is also known as the third ring road of Delhi. Mrs. Vermani was accompanied by former Leader of House, North DMC, Mr. Jayender Dabas and others.

Further, Mrs. Veena Vermani said that this road would give another bye-pass route to internal parts of the city and give connectivity to areas falling near National Highways No. 8, 10 and 1 in the South West, West and North West of Delhi.

The Western peripheral road which is likely to be opened for public in a couple of months would also help in further reducing the pollution of the city. Since both roads divert interstate traffic bye-passing Delhi especially heavy that is not bound for Delhi.

Master Plan of Delhi

Mrs. Veena Vermani hoped that third level of ring service in the form of UER-II would prove to be beneficial to Delhi People, as it would give connectivity to commuters reducing passage with travel time, resulting in reduction in pollution level. Further, she said that such long-term solutions are required to curb the pollution and to ease traffic congestion of the city.
