The UP government on Monday issued an order discontinuing the services of 841 government lawyers appointed in the Allahabad High Court.
The state government on Tuesday changed over 800 law officers and appointed 500 new officers. The changes have been effected in the Allahabad High Court and its Lucknow bench.
In the order issued by Nikunj Mittal, special secretary, UP, it was said that the services of the about 841 law officers was to be terminated with immediate effect. These include about 505 from the principal bench of the Allahabad High Court and 336 from the Lucknow bench of the high court.
Against these, the government has appointed 366 new lawyers in the Allahabad High Court and 220 new lawyers for the Lucknow Bench.
The state government has renewed the appointment of public prosecutors in Allahabad High Court and Lucknow bench. Besides, services of two chief standing counsels of Lucknow bench have also been terminated.
As per the order, 33 additional public prosecutors, 66 from the criminal side and 176 civil brief holders, have been removed. The services of 59 additional chief standing counsels and standing counsels have also been terminated.
