UAE woman ordered to pay Rs 1 lakh to husband for violating his privacy

A woman in United Arab Emirates has been ordered to pay Rs 1 lakh as compensation to her husband for violating his privacy by spying on his phone. The woman apparently, shared his photos and recordings with his family.

A civil court in Ras Al Khaimah has ordered the woman to pay Dh 5,400 (Rs 1 lakh) for sending her husbands photos and recordings to his family to tarnish is image and reputation.

The husband had filed a law suit demanding compensation from his wife for damaging his image and insulting him. He added that he lost his salary due to absence from work to pursue the case and also had to pay the attorney fees too.

In a statement given to Emarat Al Youm newspaper, the husband stated that the case caused him psychological damage. Meanwhile, the wifes lawyer claimed that the husband had abused his client verbally and expelled her from their marital home, leaving her and their daughter with no support.

The court ruled out that the woman had violated the mans privacy by spying on his phone. The evidences proved that the pictures and recordings were shared to insult and defame the husband. The man had incurred expenses and deserved financial compensation, said the court.

The court rejected the husband's claim that following up with the case led to him losing his salary. The court, thus ordered the woman to pay a compensatory sum of Dh 5,400 (Rs 1 lakh) to the man, in addition to legal fees and expenses.
