New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has announced a significant procedural change to prioritize cases involving litigants and lawyers with disabilities. This new initiative is aimed at ensuring timely justice and accommodating the unique needs of individuals with disabilities within the legal system.
According to a circular issued by the court, litigants or advocates with disabilities, as well as lawyers handling cases related to persons with disabilities, are required to inform the Registry about their cases. This notification process is designed to help the court identify and manage these cases more effectively.
The circular states, "All litigants and advocates with disabilities, along with those dealing with cases pertaining to persons with disabilities, are requested to notify the Registrar (Listing) about their ongoing cases. This will ensure these cases are identified, listed categorically in the Cause List, and disposed of on a priority basis.
By implementing this measure, the Delhi High Court aims to provide a more inclusive legal environment and ensure that individuals with disabilities receive the attention and expedited handling their cases deserve.
This approach underscores the court's commitment to fairness and accessibility within the judicial process.
