The matter was initially listed before the bench of Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana by Senior Counsel AM Dar.

"This is a fresh plea regarding evacuation of Indians in Ukraine border (Romania).  Most are girls," said the Senior Counsel.

"I read somewhere that it is being asked what is CJI doing?  Can we give a direction to stop the war," CJI Ramana demanded.  "They are in freezing temperature. There are students, most are girls, they are there for 6 days," the counsel reiterated before the bench.

The Senior counsel was then asked to wait by the Chief Justice of India. The Bench said that they will seek assistance of Attorney General KK Venugopal.  "We have all the sympathies. We will ask the Attorney General to assist us. You wait, we will take it up," the CJI said.
