SC Stays Habeas Corpus Petition Filed By Rajiv Modis Wife For Sons Custody

The Supreme Court of India today (December 13, 2019) stayed the proceedings filed by Rajiv Modis wife praying for the issuance of the writ of habeas corpus for sons custody. The boy is 18 years old.

The Court said it will hear the matter next on Wednesday but has asked the Bombay High court to not intervene in the proceedings. Rajiv Modi is the Chairman and Managing Director of Cadila Pharmaceuticals Limited.

He obtained a divorce from his wife Monica Garware with mutual consent last year. The divorce was termed as the most expensive matrimonial separation since Rajiv had to pay Rs. 200 crores to his wife, the joint managing director of Garware Polyesters Limited, as the settlement amount.
