PChidambaram and his Son Karti in Aircel-Maxis Case

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday i.e. 23rd March 2022,  granted bail to P Chidambaram, former Union Minister and his son Karti in the money laundering and corruption cases which filed by CBI and ED, in the high-profile Aircel-Maxis deal.

Earlier the Court had granted them an anticipatory bail by accepting bail bonds of rupees one lakh each. The Court earlier had directed the agencies to file a status report in the Aircel-Maxis Case which was adjourned sine die.

The Aircel-Maxis case is related to the alleged irregularities in the grant of the Foreign Investment promotion Board approval in the deal. When Chidambaram was the Finance Minster in 2006, the approval was granted.

It was alleged by the CBI and ED that as a finance minister, Chidambaram granted approval to the Aircel-Maxis deal beyond his capacity which benefitted certain persons and also received rewards.
