Raj Kundra granted temporary protection

In a lawsuit filed by the Mumbai cyber police in response to a complaint asserting that some internet platforms were broadcasting pornographic films as portion of their miniseries, the Bombay High Court provided interim relief to industrialist and Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra.

The court has scheduled an anticipatory bail hearing for this next Wednesday, August 25, 2021.

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has created a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the pornographic issue involving businessman and Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra.

Kundra, together with 11 other persons, was detained by police on July 19 on allegations of allegedly making pornographic videos.

Kundra went to the High Court following his pre-arrest bail application was denied by the Sessions Court earlier in the month.

The issue now concerns the alleged production of pornographic videos and their distribution through various applications.

The Mumbai Police have decided to name Kundra as a principal conspirator and have charged him under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays), as well as relevant sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000 and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.
