Supreme Court hears plea challenging restricting the intake of women cadets in the National Defence Academy

National Defence Academy to 19 per batch for the time being

ASG Aishwarya Bhati: We got the drift when the matter was listed on International Women's Day. We need three months to conduct study

Justice SK Kaul: You are saying that induction will be dependent upon in how many fields the candidates can perform

ASG : Women are there in every arm, they are in combat etc. But navy, even for gentleman there is no entry for 10 plus 2. So we have worked out modalities

ASG: Women are already coming as SSC officers in naval academy. A detailed excercise has gone into this.

Justice Kaul: even in my HC memory the stand of the respondent was very helping.

Adv Mohit Paul: they say intake will be fixed for 5 years, then how can a three month study help?

ASG: That is the portion only for the airforce. For navy and army it's para 3. We want to progress and there is a lot of change in the mindset.
