Supreme Court refuses to entertain PIL seeking direction to States to implement Farm Laws

A PIL has been filed by the Hindu Parishad for implementing Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Protection and Empowerment) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.

The enacted bill passed by the Central Government caused a massive protest by the farmers as well as opposition all over the country claiming that these acts are on providing the MSP which the farmers deserved to get.

Recently the Government of Punjab has refused to implement the bills in the state and subsequently, the Govt of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh have taken such decision for such.

Observing the PIL, the Supreme Court refused to interfere in the concerned matter. The bench of CJI SA Bobde stated that the court shall not interfere in the concerned subject matter.
