Supreme Court Elevates 39 Lawyers to Senior Advocates Including Bansuri Swaraj

New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India on Wednesday elevated 39 lawyers to the rank of Senior Advocates, with 10 of them being women. This decision was confirmed during a full court meeting held earlier today. The newly designated Senior Advocates are:

4. Aparna Bhat TG, Advocate-on-Record 
5. Ashok Panigrahi, Advocate-on-Record

7. B Balaji, Advocate-on-Record 
8. Bansuri Swaraj, Advocate 
9. Gaurav Sharma, Advocate-on-Record 
10. Indra Sawhney, Advocate-on-Record 
11. Kavita Jha, Advocate-on-Record 
12. Kawaljit Kochar, Advocate 
13. Mahesh Chandra Dhingra, Advocate-on-Record 
14. Manish Goswami, Advocate 
15. Manisha T Karia, Advocate-on-Record

A total of 138 lawyers had applied for the senior designation, with 68 being Advocates-On-Record (AoRs). Of these, 71 were shortlisted for interviews. Earlier this year, in January, the Court had designated 56 lawyers as Senior Advocates, which included 11 women. The previous round of designations before that occurred in December 2021, when 18 lawyers were elevated to Senior Advocates.
