Karnataka HC issued notice in a plea against naming of public places and government buildings after living ministers.
The Bombay High Court recently rejected a plea which asked to lower down the salaries of MLAs to the average level of those of other States MLAs salaries, i.e., Rs.1,15,000/- per month. The plea had also sought a direction to reduce the perks provided to MLAs and Ex. MLAs.
The Karnataka High Court dismissed a Public Interest Litigation that challenged the oath taken by the Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) for not paying deference to God. In the judgement, the Bench opined that Buddha, Basaveshwara & Ambedkar are held as divine incarnates. Further, it was pointed out that the Constitution of India permits God neutral oath taking.
