In South Korea, the slaughter and sale of dogs for their meat are set to become illegal by 2027 due to growing concerns about animal rights, despite being neither explicitly banned nor legalized. In contrast, in India's Northeast, some tribal communities continue to consume dog meat, as a ban on its commercial import and sale was quashed by the Gauhati High Court's Kohima bench in June last year, considering it an accepted norm among people of Nagaland.
