Condemning the murder of the first woman Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council Darvesh Yadav, the Bar Council of India (BCI) has demanded that a compensation of Rs 50 Lakh be given to the family of the deceased.
In the Press Release issued to this effect, the BCI chairman Manan Kumar Mishra also demanded strict security for members of the Bar across the country saying that this incident has proven that lawyers are not safe.
He said the shooting incident has sent shock waves among the legal fraternity.
Yadav was allegedly shot dead yesterday (June 12, 2019) by a lawyer named Manish Sharma inside the Agra district court premises. The incident happened while she was attending a welcome ceremony after assuming charge of Chairperson of the UP Bar Council two days ago.
