Only one woman amongst 16 lawyers receives senior designation from the Patna High Court [READ NOTICE]

On Monday (July 19th, 2021), in a Full Court meeting, the Patna High Court conferred senior designation on 16 advocates. Advocate Nivedita Nirvikar is the only woman on the list who has been named a Senior Advocate. According to the High Court of Judicature of Patna (Designation of Senior Advocates) Rules, 2019, the designations were thus conferred.

The names of the following advocates who have been designated as "Senior Advocates" are listed in the notice issued by the Registrar General of the High Court:

  1. Mr. Mrigank Mauli
  2. Mr. Amit Shrivastava
  3. Mr. Kaushal Kumar Jha
  4. Mr. Rajesh Kumar Singh
  5. Mr. Ajay Kumar Rastogi
  6. Mr. Mayanand Jha
  7. Mr. Ajay Behari Sinha
  8. Mr. Sanjay Singh
  9. Mr. Ashok Kumar Choudhary
  10. Mr. Bindhyachal Singh
  11. Mr. Ajay Kumar Sinha
  12. Mr. Shrinandan Prasad Singh
  13. Mr. Rajeeva Roy
  14. Mr. Dronacharya Kumar
  15. Mr. Sandeep Kumar
  16. Mrs. Nivedita Nirvikar

Similarly, on Friday (June 11th, 2021) at a Full Court meeting, the Chhattisgarh High Court also designated 12 lawyers as Senior Advocates, effective immediately. The Punjab and Haryana High Court had previously designated 19 advocates, including two women, as senior advocates as well.
