Supreme Court Gender Sensitization And Internal Complaints Committee

On Friday, Advocate Nina Gupta and Somvir Singh Deswal have been elected to the Supreme Court Gender Sensitization and Internal Complaints Committee ("GSICC").

Ms. Gupta, who is also a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association's Executive Committee, received the most votes (292), followed by Mr. Deswal with 286 votes. They've been elected for a two-year term.

The GSICC was established by the Chief Justice of India on November 26, 2013. According to Regulation 4 of the Gender Sensitization and Sexual Harassment of Women at the Supreme Court of India (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Regulations, 2013, the GSICC was established to fulfil a critical public function of raising public awareness about gender issues and responding to complaints of sexual harassment in the Supreme Court precincts.
