Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha found himself in the middle of a controversy after allegations of forgery were raised against him by Rajya Sabha MPs on Monday. Chadha moved a motion against the Delhi Services Bill with the signatures of five MPs which were allegedly included by fraudulent means.

According to media reports, MPs Narhani Amin and Sudhanshu Trivedi of BJP, Sasmit Patra of BJD, Thambidurai of AIADMK, and Phangon Konyak have given individual complaints against Chadha over the inclusion of their signatures in the proposed select committee.

Rajya Sabha can recommend FIR if MPs complain against motion moved by Raghav Chadha.

An FIR could be filed in case the signatures of MPs, on the proposal to send the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, to the Select Committee, turns out to be forged. The motion was moved in the Rajya Sabha by Raghav Chadha.

Refuting the charges, the party claimed that there is no need for a signature while proposing a select committee according to rules.
"Since no signature is required there is no question of any allegation of 'forged signature' whatsoever," a party official said.

AAP sources said that the names of the five MPs were given in given in good faith as they have been participating in discussions on the bill both in and outside the parliament.
