New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal addressed the media amid speculation of his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) concerning the alleged liquor scam.
CM Kejriwal expressed his readiness to cooperate with the investigation but declined to appear on the summoned date, calling the notice illegal.
There is no excise scam, BJP wants to stop me from campaigning for Lok Sabha polls. I will cooperate if legally valid summons is sent, Kejriwal further added.
Meanwhile, security heightened outside the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday morning after AAP ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj claimed, citing unnamed inputs, that the ED is likely to arrest the AAP convener on 4 January.
Notably, Kejriwal will be in Gujarat on 6,7 and 8 January, ahead of Lok Sabha elections. He plans to hold a workers conference and a public meeting in Gujarat.
At present, the anti-money laundering agency is examining Kejriwal's five-page reply sent to them yesterday.
The agency may issue its fourth summons to Kejriwal as per provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), as per the PTI report.
