BharatPes General Counsel Sumeet Singh Roped in as Board of Directors for Unity Bank

New Delhi: Sumeet Singh, who continues to serve as the General Counsel & Head of Corporate Affairs at BharatPe, has been appointed to the Board of Directors at Unity Bank as a Non-Executive Non-Independent Director (RIPL Nominee Director). His appointment marks a strategic move as Unity Bank strengthens its leadership team.

Singh, a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in corporate affairs, has been instrumental in guiding BharatPe through regulatory and compliance frameworks while shaping its corporate governance policies. His new role at Unity Bank is expected to bring valuable insights from the fintech sector to the banking industry.

While taking on responsibilities at Unity Bank, Singh will continue in his role at BharatPe, maintaining his focus on the company’s growth and legal strategies.

Unity Small Finance Bank Limited (Unity Bank), a joint venture between Centrum Financial Services and BharatPe, has been focusing on digital banking solutions and strengthening its corporate governance framework. Singh’s appointment aligns with the bank’s vision to enhance its leadership with experienced professionals from the financial and legal sectors.

Sumeet Singh is an Executive Director and the General Counsel & Head- Corporate Affairs at BharatPe, a leading fintech company in India. In his role Sumeet leads the legal, regulatory, compliance and corporate affairs at BharatPe and works with the Board and the investors on various key strategic matters. Previously a partner at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co., Sumeet is an accomplished legal professional with over 15 years of experience in Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity, and Venture Capital having spent over a decade across prominent law firms. His achievements have been recognized with several awards, including BW Legal World Top 100 GC Power List ‘2023, 40 Under 40 Club of Lawyers by BW Legal, ‘Best In-House Counsel’ award under Fintech category by India Business Law Journal (IBLJ), and ‘India’s Finest & Leading General Counsel of the Year (Fintech)’ by Legal Era. He was also featured in the Forbes Legal Power List 2021 as one of the Top General Counsels.
