Pixel v/s Blue Pixel: Opposition Filed by Google Against GM Photo for Trademark Infringement

Trademark infringement that is a violation of the rights attached to a trademark without the authorization of the trademark owner is a common phenomenon nowadays, were with the expansion of businesses, similar names have covered the market.

Recently, in this case, Google came to spotlight raising conflict against GM Photo’s “Blue Pixel” and claiming that “Pixel” is the multinational reputed brand of google since 2013. Its products like “cameras”, “microphone”, have great goodwill and no one can ever compare with this brand.

But today GM had used its name selling similar products like Dashboard cameras, Camera hoods, etc with the name “Blue Pixel”. Google claimed before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) that they have done so in order to deceive the consumers as well as tradesmen. They have changed the name slightly to confuse the consumers.

But the fact is people have always related the mark “Pixel” with Google and it will prove to be a bad decision for GM to mess with Google.

The concerned authorities have looked into the matter and are yet to decide on it.
