Mumbai Special Court To Hear Vijay Mallyas Case Under New Fugitive Law Today

As part of the first action initiated against the absconding businessman Vijay Mallya under the newly enacted fugitive economic offenders law The Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, 2018, (Act), the Mumbai special court is set to hear the case today.

As per the official sources, it is certain that Mallya may not appear in person as he is contesting an Indian extradition case in London, however, it is expected that his authorised legal representative may submit a reply to the court of Special PMLA Judge M S Azmi as part of his official response to the notice.

Earlier, on June 30, 2018, the court had issued a notice to Mallya to appear before it today, that is, August 27, 2018, after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) charged the liquor baron under the new Act.
