Pizza Delivery Boy

New Delhi, 16 April 2020: In South Delhi, fear has spread among 70 families, which have been in contact of a 19-year-old pizza delivery agent that has tested positive for coronavirus. The delivery boy has in the last 15 days, delivered to 72 families in south Delhi areas like Hauz Khas, Malviya Nagar and Savitri Nagar.

These families have been home quarantined while the delivery boy has been admitted to RML hospital.

Along with the families, the boy was in contact with other 20 delivery boys, keeping the situation under control, these delivery boys are also being put in quarantine at a facility in Chhattarpur.

Officials said that the teen doesn't have any travel history. It is being suspected that he may have got infected while delivering pizza to an infected family.

Zomato issued a statement that they only today got to know that a restaurant employee who had tested positive for the virus, "had delivered food in the past to a few customers" in Malviya Nagar.

The giant food delivery group officials stated that "Some of these orders were placed on Zomato. We are not sure whether the rider was affected at the time of delivery".

The officials further added, "All these customers have already been contacted by government authorities".

Zomato ensured that the outlet where the rider was working has been shut.

The officials said, "COVID-19 could happen to anyone - and it is near impossible for all of us to completely isolate ourselves, especially when we need outside support for essentials such as food...We believe that none of our riders should and would knowingly keep working if they knew they were infected with COVID-19".

Delhi is on the second spot with 1,578 COVID-19 cases with 32 deaths until now.
