Second All-Women Delivery Station Setup in Gujarat By Amazon India

Amazon India has set up its second all-women delivery station in Kadi, located close to 50km from Ahmedabad, Gujarats capital. The first such delivery station was set up in 2016 in Chennai, Tamil Naidu. 

This step was taken so as to promote the working of women in India. Providingcareer opportunities to women is one of the main objectives of Amazon India. 

Prakash Rochlani, Director, Last Mile Operations at Amazon India, said Our vision is to enable women to discover meaningful career opportunities across the operations network at Amazon India. We have created more than 6,000 opportunities for women across our network where they continue to thrive and excel."

The management of this newly setup station is done by women and it is fully controlled by them. Eight women have been hired till now for the facility and a helpline number has also been created. The Delivery Service Partner program is a last-mile delivery model of Amazon India.

In a statement, the company said that The new all-women delivery station, operated by a delivery service partner, is part of the company's efforts towards increasing participation of women in the workforce.

It further added that This first-of-its-kind station in Gujarat is completely managed and run by women across managerial and delivery associate roles. Amazon India has introduced several measures to ensure a safe workplace for women by creating awareness and building various feedback mechanisms to address concerns through open dialogues."

Not only this, but Amazon India has also opened a delivery station recently, which is completely run and managed by Transgender individuals. It has also provided opportunities to former defense personnel and differently abled individuals.
