TV Actor Karan Oberoi Arrested For Allegedly Raping, Blackmailing Woman; Sent To Police Custody

Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin fame actor Karan Oberoi has been arrested by Mumbai police for allegedly raping and blackmailing a woman in Oshiwara, Mumbai in 2017.

As per reports, a Mumbai court has sent the actor into police custody until May 9, 2019.

The arrest was made following an FIR registered at Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai under Sections 376 and 384 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, against Oberoi.

According to the police, the actor-model allegedly raped the woman on the pretext of marrying her.

"Karan Oberoi not only raped the woman and filmed the act but also demanded money from her threatening to release the video if she did not pay up," the police official said.

The accused actor started his TV journey with Mahesh Bhatt's Swabhimaan, where he played Bobby and went on to star in shows like SaayaJassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, Inside Edge, among others. He was also a member of a Hindi boy band "A Band of Boys", which was formed in 2001 and appeared in several advertising campaigns.
