Commissioner of Police, Delhi Amulya Patnaik inaugurated the fifth season of Road Safety Awareness Summer Camp at Traffic Training Park, Baba Kharak Singh Marg. The summer camp is being organized by Delhi Traffic Police with the support and cooperation of corporate houses like IGL, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Ltd. (HMSI), Hero Motocorp, SIAM and NGO Synergie. This camp aims at helping children utilize their summer vacation in a meaningful way and to enable them to learn traffic rules and norms.
The summer camp, an event two- week long to be held in two batches with a duration of five days each is being organised at five different locations namely Traffic Training Parks at Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Bal Bhawan, Punjabi Bagh, Roshanara Bagh and Dev Samaj School, Nehru Nagar. Each batch will have 200 to 250 students participating in the programme.
The course contents designed with a view to inculcating road safety habits in the students which in turn will help them become sensible, sensitive and responsible road users.
NGO Synergie will arrange Road Safety outdoor games and brain storming game sessions, while Road Safety Cell staff will organize visits to nearby intersections, in coordination with Traffic staff. The free of cost programme will provide students with goodie bags, road safety literatures, T-shirts, caps and daily refreshments. A number of competitions will be organized during the camp with awards to be bestowed on the winners.
Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, laid emphasis on road safety measures to be seriously followed by the users. In his address, Patnaik asked the students to be disciplined in life for their own individual strength and it helps in building up a strong nation as a whole. He underscored that children are the best instruments of society, as they see, learn and follow good habits and also tell their parents to follow the rules and become good citizens. He appreciated the role of Road Safety Cell, the educational wing of Delhi Traffic Police in sensitizing people about the importance of obeying traffic rules and guiding children to grow up into good road users. The Head of the police fraternity also complemented the role of IGL, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Ltd. (HMSI), Hero Motocorp, SIAM and Synergie for taking pains for creating facilities.
Amidst the august gathering of the distinguished guests at the event were Taj Hassan special commissioner of police, Traffic, R S Krishnia Special CP L&O (Law & Order,South), Meenu Chaudhary, Joint CP Traffic, K Jegadeshan, Joint CP Traffic, Anand Mohan, Joint CP New Delhi Range and other senior officers and representatives of stakeholders.
