Another Member Of Manipurs Banned Terror Outfit Arrested By Delhi Police

The Delhi Police Special Cell on September 4th, 2018 arrested a 37-year-old self-styled General Secretary of Manipurs banned terror outfit - Kangleipak Communist Party- Peoples War Group (KCP-PWG), identified as Moirangthem Rana Pratap Rana alias Paikhomba.

As per reports the accused was involved in several terrorist-related activities and extortion cases in Manipur and was also wanted by National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Case RC No. 15/2017 registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 carrying a reward of Rs. two lakh for his apprehension.

Earlier, a team of South-Western Range of Special Cell on August 28th, 2018 apprehended Oinam Ibochouba Singh alias Khoirangba, a self-styled Chairman of the terrorist organization KCP-PWG.

After the arrest of Oinam Ibochouba Singh from Kotla Mubarakpur, Delhi vital clues were received and a team under ACP Sanjay Dutt sent to Manipur to catch the other militants. After thorough raids, on September 04, 2018, Moirangthem Rana Pratap Rana was arrested from the Bishnupur area in Manipur. He was produced before the local CJM Court in Imphal, Manipur and is being brought to Delhi on transit remand.

He was earlier arrested by Assam Police under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 in 2005, from West Imphal. After being released from jail he continued his illegal terrorist activities and in order to evade police dragnet, he escaped to Nepal where he married a local girl and set up his base in Pokhra, Nepal. He extorted money from different govt. authorities, local businessman, private schools etc. and involved in threatening the Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh.

A case vide FIR No. 178(8) U/S 121/307 Indian Penal Code, 1860 & 10/13/16/18/20 Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 was registered at PS Imphal West regarding the incident. As per Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, DCP Special Cell, further investigation is being carried out.

The local police and administration including the Chief Minister of Manipur and the DGP Manipur have personally appreciated the prompt response of Delhi police in apprehending the militants. DGP Manipur has also sent a letter of appreciation to Commissioner of Police, Delhi for successful team work.
