The MP-MLA court has issued an arrest warrant against former Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Swami Prasad Maurya. The court ordered him to appear before the court by January 24. While former minister Swami Prasad Maurya did not appear before the court on Wednesday in connection with his controversial remarks on deities in 2014, Additional Chief Magistrate MP-MLA has ordered the issuance of an undone arrest warrant against the accused former labour minister Swami Prasad Maurya. The date of hearing in the case has now been fixed for January 24.
Swami Prasad Maurya has recently resigned as a cabinet minister in UP. Swami Prasad Maurya has sent his resignation to Governor Anandiben Patel. It is being reported that he may soon quit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and join the Samajwadi Party (SP).
In his resignation to UP Governor Anandiben Patel, Cabinet Minister Swami Prasad Maurya said, "As Minister of Labour and Services and Coordination, I have discharged responsibility with great concentration even in the face of adversity and ideology, but I resign from the Cabinet of Uttar Pradesh because of the grossly neglectful attitude of Dalits, backward, farmers, unemployed youth and small and medium scale traders."
