Civil Defence volunteer arrested for impersonating a Delhi Police officer and booking people for violating COVID-19 norms

On Sunday (June 6, 2021) a 31-year-old civil defence volunteer was arrested in the Sangam Vihar area of South Delhi for allegedly impersonating a Delhi Police sub-inspector and prosecuting people for violating COVID-19 norms.

Suneel Kumar, a resident of Sangam Vihar, has been named as the suspect. The arrest was made while he was checking people for COVID-19 violations, according to the Delhi Police, and constable Amit arrived on the scene and checked his identity card.

According to the police, "Suneel Kumar, the accused, was in possession of a forged Delhi Police ID card. He had his Aadhar Card, Disaster Management Duty Pass, and Civil Defence Card with him. He was using a fake Delhi Police I-Card and posing as a Delhi Police officer ." 

At the Tigri Police Station, a FIR has been filed against him. "Fake I-Card, other documents, and his uniform, worn at the time of the incident, were taken into possession through seizure memo after the accused person was arrested," the police said.
