Civil Defence volunteer arrested for impersonating a Delhi Police officer and booking people for violating COVID-19 norms

On Sunday (June 6, 2021) a 31-year-old civil defence volunteer was arrested in the Sangam Vihar area of South Delhi for allegedly impersonating a Delhi Police sub-inspector and prosecuting people for violating COVID-19 norms.

Suneel Kumar, a resident of Sangam Vihar, has been named as the suspect. The arrest was made while he was checking people for COVID-19 violations, according to the Delhi Police, and constable Amit arrived on the scene and checked his identity card.

According to the police, "Suneel Kumar, the accused, was in possession of a forged Delhi Police ID card. He had his Aadhar Card, Disaster Management Duty Pass, and Civil Defence Card with him. He was using a fake Delhi Police I-Card and posing as a Delhi Police officer ."

At the Tigri Police Station, a FIR has been filed against him. "Fake I-Card, other documents, and his uniform, worn at the time of the incident, were taken into possession through seizure memo after the accused person was arrested," the police said. More research is being carried out on the matter.
