Crazy Drugs Yaba Tabs Worth Rupees 8 Cr Seized By BSF

By LawStreet News Network      03 May, 2019 12:00 AM      0 Comments

The joint operation carried out by Border Security Force (BSF) and Silchar police led to the seizure of Yaba tablets worth Rupees 8 crore.

Acting on a tip-off provided by BSF Intelligence Wing, an operation was planned and conducted under the guidance of Dr. K.C. Mahali IPS, IG (Inspector General) Mizoram & Cachar Frontier in which BSF and Silchar Police carried out a joint operation and raided New City Lodge at Kathal Point on Hailakandi Road. During the raid, 2 persons were arrested and when their vehicles were searched, 80 bundles containing 1,60,000 Yaba tablets were recovered. They were identified as Biplab Dey and Sahajalal Miah, both from Tripura.

Yaba, a Thai word for crazy drugs, is a mix of methamphetamine and caffeine that comes in different flavours and colours. Inhaling its fumes or snorting the crushed powder induces a hyper-alert state so exhilarating that users have been tempted to give up on heroin and ganja.

During the year, sustained efforts by BSF of this Frontier to curb the menace of the drugs has so far seized 1,60,170 Yaba tablets and 2848 Ketamine Bottles. Such frequent seizures and apprehension will for certain penetrate and puncture the syndicates involved in smuggling activities.
