The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Rouse Avenue Court Complex, Vishal Pahuja has given fifteen days to the Crime Branch of Delhi Police to investigate on the complaint filed by Brinda Karat against Anurag Thakur and Pravesh Sahib Singh.

The court has given an option to the Police, either register an FIR if the cognizable offence is made out or submit action taken report before the next day of the hearing. The application was filed by the leaders of CPI (M) Brinda Karat and KM Tiwari under Section 156 (3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (CrPC) to which earlier this month, the Court sought an Action Take Report (ATR) from the DCP of Delhi Police, New Delhi and an FIR was filed against Anurag Thakur and Pravesh Singh under the Sections 153A/153B/295A/298/504/506 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 in the Parliament Street Police Station. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Delhi informed the Court that the case is dealt by the Special Investigative Unit of Crime Branch along with monitoring of the case is done by Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) and the investigation of shooting incidents is in the initial stage and the police sought eight weeks to conclude investigating the same.

In the application, there is a mention about the speech made by Minister Anurag Thakur at Rithala in Delhi and raised the chants to shoot the traitors with the reference to the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 (CAA). The Sitting- MP from BJP, Pravesh Sahib Singh gave an interview to Asian News International (ANI) on 28th January where he gave provocative, false and communal statement against the protestors in Shaheen Bagh. If BJP party is elected to power in the State Assembly election then people protesting will be cleared from the road within an hour. After the comments made by them, there have been multiple incidents which took place in Jamia Milia Islamia University and Shaheen Bagh.
