Gang Of Auto-Lifters Busted, 2 Nabbed

With the arrest of two auto-lifters the AATS  (Anti-AutoTheft Squad) claims to have solved 9 cases of auto-lifting and recovered as many as 9 luxury cars stolen from different parts of the city of Delhi.

Those arrested have been identified as Israar alias Gatua 40 years and Dilshad alias Imran 31 Years.

Keeping in view the gravity of the crime in the area, a team comprising SI Vivek Gautam, ASI Vinod, ASI Roop Singh, ASI Bhagwat Singh, ASI Harbir and ASI Viju led by inspector Love Atrey Incharge AATS under the supervision of Jagdish Yadav ACP Operations was constituted.

The police team kept a round-the-clock vigil at the movement of the criminals recently out of JC (Judicial Custody) and human intelligence moved up a gear.  Traps were also laid to nail criminals. The police team gathered information about the movement of an auto-lifter. A trap was laid and special picket was erected at Captain Gaur Marg near Okhla Mandi. At about 7 in the evening on March 14, 2019, one white Maruti Brezza with registration number DL 6CR 9082 coming from the Ring Road, Lajpar Nagar Side was intercepted. The driver of the car hit the barricades and tried to escape but the AATS personnel overpowered him. When verified, the car he was driving was found stolen from V3S Mall, Preet Vihar, east Delhi vide E-FIR No- 7483/19, dt. 02.03.19, PS Preet Vihar. The driver of the stolen car was identified as Israar. Accordingly, the accused was arrested under Section 41(1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, and stolen car was seized.

The police obtained PC (Police Custody) and interrogated the accused Israar, he sang like a canary, broke down and spilled the beans that subsequently led the police to arrest the gang of auto lifters and receivers. Several raids were conducted at Meerut, Sambhal, Moradabad, Bareilly in UP. During the raids, one auto-lifter, Dilshad who also received stolen cars was arrested from Meerut.

During sustained interrogation, it was revealed that Israar was released from prison in October 2018. He with his friend Aslam and Naeem bagan to steal luxury cars from Delhi and the NCRs.

District Police Head Chinmoy Biswal said, "Israar and his associates would come to Delhi in a car with the intention of lifting luxury cars parked in open places in Delhi. They would break the lock of the main door of the car with the help of a screwdriver then remove the battery connection of the car by opening the bonnet and break the steering lock with the help of battery operated drill machine. Accused persons kept separate set of ECM and steering lock set to operate the ignition switch of the car. With the help of pre-occupied ECM, the accused would start the vehicles. After stealing the vehicle, they parked the stolen vehicles at secluded places in Delhi and the NCRs and after 4-5 days they took the stolen vehicles to deliver at different locations of Bareilly, Moradabad, Meerut, and Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh."

Recovered Cars 

The police have recovered from them 3 Maruti Brezza cars, 2 Maruti Swift cars, 1 Hyundai i20 car, 1 Hyundai Santro car, 1 Maruti Wagon R car and 1 Hyundai Accent car.

Israar has 3 previous involvements of theft cases in Delhi, Rampur and Moradabad, UP. Since, his release from prison in October 2018, he has been active in the crime of auto theft.

Dilshad has 23 previous involvements of theft cases. He has been actively involved in crime since 2003. The police stations concerned have been informed, the case has been registered under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, and the probe next is underway.
