Noida: In the latest development on the rape case in Noidas Gardens Galleria Mall, Gautam Buddha Nagar Police have begun cracking down on the accused scrap dealer Ravi Nagar alias Ravi Kana (45) and his gang. While teams have been formed to arrest the accused, Greater Noida police recently sealed his properties worth Rs 100 crore.

Notably, a 25-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped in the parking lot of Gardens Galleria Mall in Noidas sector 38 in June last year.

Reportedly, officials said that the woman could not file the complaint then as she was afraid of the accused, but when they started blackmailing her, she approached the police on December 30.

It is said that the woman was lured by the men on the pretext of a job. When they started blackmailing her using videos of the rape incident, she approached police. A gangrape case was filed against five men, including Kana. Three men Rajkumar Nagar, Azad Nagar and Vikas have been arrested.

An FIR was registered against them under sections 376D (gang rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC at Sector 39 police station. The woman got her statement recorded before a magistrate and the accused were nabbed, DCP Harish Chander reportedly said.

DCP (Greater Noida) Saad Miya Khan said a joint team of Beta 2 and Ecotech 1 police stations raided factories associated with Kana on Tuesday.

During the raids at Shri Krishna Steels and Prime Processing Tools Private Limited, two trucks laden with scrap, 20 empty trucks, 2 tractors, 3 motorcycles, 10 computers with printers, and other items were sealed. The estimated value of the sealed scrap material and other items is around Rs 100 crore. The other accused in the case will be arrested soon, Khan reportedly further added.

Ravi Nagar, also known as Kana, was booked under the UP Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act. He is named in a rape complaint and was formerly an associate of gangster Anil Dujana before their fallout.

Kana was given police protection after his brother, SP functionary Harendra Pradhan, was shot dead allegedly by the Sunder Bhati gang in Greater Noida in February 2015, according to cops.
