The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel recovered a packet containing one gold bar weighing about 1 kg worth rupees 35 lakh. It was lying unattended and unclaimed in the washroom of IGI Airport, New Delhi. It was handed over to Customs officials.
Acting on a tip-off, CISF surveillance and intelligence team at IGI Airport found a packet wrapped in black colour tape lying unattended inside the Gents washroom number 20 of International arrival reclaim area of Terminal 3, IGI Airport.
Immediately, the CISF Bomb Detection & Disposal Squad (BDDS) team was directed to rush to the spot. Senior officers of CISF and Terminal Manager were also informed. The packet was checked from security point of view by CISF BDDS team. After ascertaining that there was nothing inside the bag posing a threat to the system, it was opened. On opening the packet one gold bar weighing about 1 kg was recovered.
The matter was informed to the Customs officials and the gold bar was handed over to them for further necessary action in the matter.
