Revenge killing of victim, her family and eye-witnesses will be organized if granted bail to Asaram Bapu: Victims father moves Supreme Court

The father of the rape victim has moved to the Supreme Court, opposing the bail plea of self-styled Godman and life convict, Asaram Bapu, stating that he will organize revenge killing of the victim, her family and the witnesses if granted bail.

Asaram Bapu is a habitual offender who is currently facing trial for offence of rape, avers the plea moved by the father of the child rape victim who was 16 years of age at the time of incident through Advocate Utsav Bains.

The plea states that Asaram Bapu is a highly influential and politically connected person. It further read as, During the course of the trial, the Applicant and his family members were threatened with dire consequences. Recently also, the Applicant herein has been threatened by the followers of the petitioner and shockingly the State of Uttar Pradesh has reduced security of the Applicant and his family and they are again very vulnerable to murderous attacks by the followers of the petitioner."

Furthermore, the plea states that the submission made on behalf of the petitioner to seek ayurvedic treatment at Prakash Deep Institute of Ayurveda at Uttarakhand is nothing but again an attempt to seek suspension of his sentence and change the place of his custody.

Recently, the State of Rajasthan while opposing the plea had quoted that Asaram Bapu had an ulterior motive and wished to change his place of custody under the guise of medical ailment and its treatment.

Asarams Plea:

Life convict Asaram had moved an application for temporary suspensions of sentences in a sexual assault case and another case in Gujarat involving the offence under IPC Section 376. He is presently in custody in connection with both cases.

While at Central Jail, Jodhpur, the Godman got infected with Covid-19, he was shifted to M.D.M. Hospital, Jodhpur, as a measure to provide treatment. Later, he was moved to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jodhpur.

As per his medical reports, in the intervening period, he developed internal gastrointestinal bleeding as a result whereof, his haemoglobin dropped to a critically low level, and accordingly, he was provided treatment for the said disorder including blood transfusion, etc.
