Man Robbed Greengrocer, Nabbed

The staff of Amar Colony caught a man who robbed a greengrocer and recovered from him a button accentuated knife and a scooty with robbed cash.

The case wherein a vegetable vendor, Kailash 40 years was stabbed and robbed, almost went blind, until the police reached the accused following some crucial leads that helped the cops get to the culprit. The accused identified as Aqueef 23 years intercepted the victim with his two other accomplices Minna and Binda and robbed him of money near Captain Gaur Marg.

A case vide FIR no. 105/19, under Sections 394, 397 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, PS Amar Colony was registered.

A team led by SHO inspector Anant Kumar Gunjan with SI R.S. Dagar I/C PP Sriniwaspuri, SI Rakesh Kumar, SI Shailender and ASI Rajbir was constituted under the supervision of Govind Sharma, ACP sub-division Kalkaji.

Patrolling stepped up, pickets were effectively erected and human intelligence was employed. Acting on a tip-off, that there are some robbers and snatchers active in the area. The said information was further developed following the same, a trap was laid near Karpoori Thakur Camp, Sriniwaspuri and a desperate criminal namely Aqueef was apprehended by the police team.

"The desperate Aqueef, a school dropout is a drug addict, he robbed people to feed his addiction of smoking and drinking. He was wanted in 10 cases. Their modus operandi was to target those who would go to buy vegetables from Okhla Mandi. Further investigation is underway. Efforts are made to arrest the remaining two accused at large," DCP south-east district Chinmoy Biswal said. A scooty which was stolen by the accused persons vide E-FIR No. 003516/19 under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, PS Amar Colony has also been recovered from the possession of the accused. Accused persons used to steal scooty and commit snatching and robbery on these scooties only. Accused persons used to target small time vendors in the early morning hours and used to threaten them by knife and in case of any retaliation, they used to assault the victim. A case vide FIR no. 106/19, under Section 25 of the Arms Act, 1959, PS Amar Colony has also been registered against the accused for possession of knife.
