In a shocking turn of events, a police constable on duty at the Delhi high court allegedly shot himself dead with his service rifle on Wednesday (September 29, 2021). The officer worked with the 8th Battalion of Rajasthan Armed Constabulary and had come for duty earlier in the day.
Identified as Tinku Ram, the constable was posted outside gate no. 3 of the Delhi High Court and was found dead at the same spot. It is believed that the 30-year-old killed himself around 9.30 am.
The deceased, who is said to have died on the spot, was a resident of Kotkasim in Alwar. He is said to have rejoined his duty on Wednesday after being on leave for a couple of days. The incident is currently under investigation, and no suicide note, or foul play has been detected yet.
Confirming the news, New Delhi deputy commissioner of police Deepak Yadav in a statement, said, Probe is underway to find out the circumstances prompting him to take this step. No suicide note has been recovered.
He further added, We received information that the constable had shot himself with his service INSAS rifle. He was declared dead on the spot. Recently, a similar incident also took place at the National Capitals Rohini Court wherein gangster Jitender Mann alias Gogi was found dead in a dramatic shootout.
These incidents have raised massive concerns as far as security is concerned within the court premises.
