RSS Worker, Pregnant Wife, 6-Yr-Old Son Killed In Bengals Murshidabad; Protest Held

By LawStreet News Network      14 October, 2019 05:55 PM      0 Comments

A Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker, his eight months pregnant wife and six-year-old son were killed in Bengals Murshidabad district on October 8, 2019.

The bodies of Prakash Pal (35), Beauty Pal (28) and their son Angan Pal (6) were found in a pool of blood in their house at Jiaganj. Stab wounds were found on all the three bodies but the child was also strangulated with a towel, a police officer said.

Locals told us that Prakash Pal was last seen at 11 am on Tuesday, when he was returning from the local market. Within an hour, the three of the family were found dead, said an officer involved in the investigation.

Murshidabad (South) BJP vice president Humayun Kabir said Pal was an RSS member but his political identity has no connection with the murder.

One of our family members talked with Prakash and his son over the phone for the last time at around 11:15 am. After speaking for a few seconds, he disconnected. We think the killers were present inside the room when Prakash was talking on the phone, said Rajesh Ghosh, an uncle of the deceased.

As per reports, four people have been and are being interrogated in connection with the murder.

Speaking to ANI, Superintendent of Police (SP) Murshidabad, Mukesh Kumar said, "We have not arrested anyone till now. We have detained two more people that brings the total number of detained to four and now we are interrogating them. If there is any further lead or any arrest then we will let media know," he said.

On being asked any primary information regarding the case, the SP said, "We are getting information about some kind of financial dealings so we are working on that. Once we are confirmed we let you know."

The triple murder has attracted strong reactions from various groups. On October 13, 2019, members of Hindu organisations, including Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), protested in Ranchi, Jharkhand against the triple murder. According to sources, at least 100 people joined the protest to show solidarity with the family.

Earlier, an organization of teachers has also threatened to launch an agitation if the police failed to nab the culprits.
